ESTIMATING ATMOSPHERIC RADIATION IN FUNCTION OF RADIOMETRIC RATIOS Kt AND Kd IN THE CITY OF BOTUCATU-SP-BRAZIL

ABSTRACT: This work brings the development of a model for estimating the atmospheric longwave radiation (LW↓) from the short-wave radiation (extraterrestrial (Io), global (G) and diffuse (d)) for all types of sky coverage. The atmospheric longwave radiation (LW↓) and the radiometric ratios Kt (ratio between (G) and (Io)) and Kd (ratio between (d) and (G)) were linearly correlated, both with high coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.981 between LW↓ and Kt and R2 = 0.963 between LW↓ and Kd). The direct relationship between (LW↓), (G) and (d) on surface was verified after climate and statistical analysis of the three components using a database of 7 years of measurements. In the spring and summer seasons, the values of (LW ↓), (G) and (d) are higher, accompanied by increases in temperature and concentration of clouds and water vapor in the atmosphere. In the autumn and winter seasons, the values of (LW↓), (G) and (d) are lower, therefore the values of temperature and concentration of clouds and water vapor are also lower. The validation of the two equations generated (LW↓ = f (Kt) and LW ↓ = f (Kd)) showed seasonal differences in estimating LW↓: underestimations for the spring and summer seasons and overstate the autumn and winter seasons. Despite the seasonality, the statistical indicators MBE and RMSE were low, confirming that the proposed model was statistically significant.
