1 RESUMO

2 ABSTRACT

The use of wastewater is a practice with great advantages, especially in the supply of nutrients, a factor that contributes to faster growth. The sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is an ornamental plant with decorative interest, for its stunning beauty. The objective of this research was to study the growth of sunflower genotypes for cutting irrigated with domestic wastewater and supply water. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse belonging to the Universidade Federal de Campina Grande, PB, in randomized block in a 4 x 2 factorial design with 3 replications utilising 4 sunflower genotypes (EMBRAPA 122 V2000 – G1, Sol Noturno – G2, Sol Vermelho – G3 and Debilis Creme – G4) and 2 types of water (supply water – A1 and treated wastewater originating from domestic sewage – A2). The use of wastewater under organic production provided the best  mean results of growth for the studied genotypes and among the ornamentals, the Sol Noturno highlighted, with the maximum growth, and the Debilis Creme, with the least growth. The Debilis Creme genotype was the one that produced more accumulation of biomass under supply water treatment and the Sol Noturno when the wastewater was used but these facts occurred because of the individual potencialities of each genotype.
